Vikram replaced Maniratnam Film

It had been reported earlier that Vikram has a role in Mani Ratnam’s film starring Abhishek and Aishwarya. This film would have been Vikram’s tryst with Bollywood. But after the lukewarm response to the Bachchans’ Sarkar Raj, it looks like Mani has decided to take an actor who has a national appeal. So it will be Sanjay Dutt taking Vikram’s place.

Vikram at present is working in Kanthasamy, which is expected to be a Deepavali release.

Om Shanthi Om, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, which was last year’s biggest Bollywood block-buster, featured a song in which 31 major Hindi film stars came together to shake a leg with SRK. And now taking a lead from the film, Kollywood director P.Vasu, who is known to have tremendous goodwill in this industry, plans to rope in major stars for his forthcoming film kuseylan, which stars Rajinikanth.

In OSO, the song is based on the situation where SRK’s character (an actor) wins an award and throws a party, which is attended by all major stars. As Vasu’s film is also about an who rises to ‘super’ stardom, he plans to approach stars like Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, and Trisha for a special song in the Tamil version of the film. Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Balakrishna and others are being approached for the Telugu version of this song. K.Balachandar (kuseylan’s Producer) is regarded as a mentor for both Rajinikanth as well as Kamal Haasan. Sources said that as P.Vasu is close to both, Kamal would approve his role without hesitation. When contacted by media, Vasu agree that there was a plan to come up with a special song, but said it was in its primitive stages. “Once things are confirmed, we would make an announcement,” he said.

Vikram’s Kanthaswamy in Windhoek

Actor Vikram

Vikram’s Kanthaswamy is moving on in full pace. But it did hit a obstruction a few weeks ago after its director, Susi Ganesan, was injured when a pole in the shooting spot fell on his head. He suffered only a minor injury and was out of the hospital the very same day. Shooting resumed soon after and is going on as per program.

This movie hit the headlines right from the day it was inaugurated; with a grand function that was even aired live by a television channel. Some of the stills released even showed the stars, Vikram and Shriya, in the jungles of Africa dressed up as tribals.

These stills will soon come to life as the team prepares to leave for Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, on December 10, 2007, to shoot some of the talkie portions and also a song in the forest areas of Namibia. They will camp there for a 10-day long shoot, and are anticipated to wrap it up on December 20, 2007. All those who thought those stills were just a part of media hype gimmicks – wake up, it’s a Susi Ganesan film. So what you see is what you get.

Vikram Gives Assurance For 3 Movies A Year

Three movies every year for Actor Vikram

Saturday 19 January 2008 @ 9:06 am

Vikram is finally a calmed man now. His Bheema has finally seen the lights after a gap of three years. Talking about this the actor says that he did Bheema for its exclusive climax.

After Majaa, Vikram did not do anyother movie because of his commitment to Bheema. The price he paid was almost 12 crore, Vikram says. He had a one and half crore personal loss and upto 10 crore losses for not accepting any other movies during this time. The film Bheema has been sold for 23 crores and is expected to get a distributors share of 1 crore in Tirunelveli-Tanjore belt, which normally happens only for blockbusters.

The actor is open to all kinds of roles and is willing to experiment his roles, but wants to work only with experienced directors. Kanthasamy will be a children’s oriented movie and will be a treat to them. Cheeyan Vikram will next do a movie with Selvaraghavan

Vikram: The real Bheemaa

Vikram

A junior police officer tells in the movie to the police commissioner: “He is the force that sustains the entire gang. He is the Bheeema, who holds the entire weight on his shoulders”.

The words perfectly fit the role of Vikram in comparison with the movie Bheema is concerned. In other words, he is not only the Bheemaa IN the movie. He is the Bheemaa OF the movie. He has carried the movie on his strong and able shoulders just as the legendary Bheemaa carried his brothers and mother through the dangerous jungles.

True. Bheemaa has excellent music and outstanding camera work. Lingusamy has come out with a script that deals with the subject with sincerity. Ramakrishnan has penned some sharp and sensible dialogues. Kanal Kannan has stunningly choreographed the stunts. Trisha adds marvel to the fare, while Prakash Raj delivers a powerful performance.

However, it is Vikram, who is the lifeline of the movie. Lingusamy once said that he has shaped the story keeping Vikram in his mind. Vikram has more than lived up to his expectations.

Vikram personifies the essence of the legendary character Bheemaa, who dares to take on anybody, come what may. Bheema is fearless. You look at Vikram’s eyes in the film and you can make out what is fearlessness. Legendary Bheemaa relishes strong opponents. You can see the same feeling perfectly reflected in Vikram’s body language when he gets ready to face a horde of thugs in the market all alone.

If Vikram breaths fire in stunt scenes, he enlivens the proceedings when he shows adulation towards Chinna. He mesmerizes the audience when he exudes the feeling of love.

He hits like a thunder in the market. He plays like a kid with kids in the next scene. He innocently smiles at Prakash Raj like a small boy looking at his mentor with adulation. He challenges the commissioner in the party with care free attitude. Later he his face melts like a piece of ice kept under the sun when he looks at a flower. Everything is done with composure. You cannot imagine many actors fitting so perfectly in all these scenes.

There will be many who would appreciate Vikram for his portrayal of a mentally affected person in ‘Sethu’. His portrayal of a visually impaired in ‘Kasi’, his handling of a graveyard caretaker with animal instincts in ‘Pithamagan’, and his unbelievable depiction of multiple personality in Anniyan had many takers and admirers. But Vikram’s dimensions do not confined to these roles alone. He has much more to be adored.

Very few would have appreciated his portrayal of a collage student with astounding reality in ‘Sethu’ and smart rendering of a youth aspiring to become a police officer in Dil. He also excelled when it came to enthrall the audiences with commercial cocktail in Gemini. The ease with which he brought out the image of a Police officer with gray shades in ‘Samy’ was a rare treat on screen.

The fact is that Vikram works hard for each of his film irrespective of which genre it belongs to. He gives his 100 per cent in whatever role he plays. He transforms himself as the character he gets. It is this involvement that made him the Bheema of Lingusamy.

When Lingu briefed him about the character, Vikram required a few days of time. When he came back, he stunned the director with his appearance. He transformed himself as the character. The make up, the body language, the expressions… Lingusamy was taken aback. “How is your Sekar?” asked Vikram to his director, who was awestruck by the involvement of the man. Vikram loves to experiment. He loves challenges.

Everyone knows that Vikram is a fine actor, who could handle any kind of roles. But the handsome actor with lot of talent and hunger for success got a real break after a painful and long struggle. Everyone recognized him when ‘Sethu’ came in 1999. But he made his debutant as early as in 1990 (En Kadhal Kanmani). He did not have a godfather to back him. To make things worse, he met with a serious accident, which forced him to rest in the bed for almost three years.

But when he was offered a chance, he grabbed it and porved the world who he was. The success of Sethu was followed by the successes of Dhill, (2001), Gemini (2002), Dhool, and Saamy (both in 2003). The film prompted director Shankar to notice the potential in him. He booked him for his mega project Anniyan.

Vikram, one of the rare actors, who could hold the movie with his performance, has won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in Pithamagan in 2003. He has also won the 52nd Filmfare South Award for Best Actor for his good performance in Anniyan, 2005.

These awards are just a few indications of the heights Vikram, the outstanding actor is about to reach.

Very few actors would have maintained their charm even if they do not have any releases for a couple of years. Vikram has proved that he is one such actor. Bheemaa came after 26 months of his previous release (Majaa in 2005 November). When Bheemaa was delayed due to financial troubles, Vikram showed his commitment and loyalty towards the project he had taken up. He had actually owned up the project and hence decided to fore go many offers that could have fetched him more fame and crores of money.

It is the commitment and rare talent that make Vikram stand out. When such an actor throws his weight behind a project like Bheemaa, there will be little doubt about the success of the venture. The results driving from various centers prove this point beyond doubt.

Vikram’s adversity due to ‘Bheema’

vikram

Recently actor Vikram announced that, he had taken up the role of hero for the film ‘Bheema’ barely due to its interesting climax and luckily for him, the film is doing well. But then, in this process the actor had to make several compromises and in his own words, the star mentioned that had he done 2-3 films during this phase of the film, he would have easily made around Rs 10 Crores. However, there was so much confusion regarding the climax of ‘Bheema’ that he could not afford to take the chance of another assignment. Well Vikram, hardwork pays and with the results of the film coming out positively this should serve as a comfort.

The trials of ‘Bheema’: Vikram’s tales of woe

After two long years, ‘Bheema’ has finally hit the screens and it seems Vikram has been through much travail for this. Meeting the press yesterday, Vikram shared his woes with them. “Because the climax of ‘Bheema’ unnatural me, I agreed to act in the film. But there were so many complication before the film could be released. I did not sign on any other film in these two years. If I had done 2 or 3 films in this period, I could have earned at least 10 crores.

But I had so much assurance in ‘Bheema’ that I did not sign on any other film. There were similar hassles before ‘Sethu’ got released too. Even then, I did not undergo so much misery like now. For the wrong that someone else has done, I had to take the retribution in ‘Bheema.’ The accolades the film has received now is like balm for my wounds. A fellow actor complimented me that this film was even better than ‘Anniyan.’ The distributors are making decent profits from the film,” said Vikram, shedding his worries.
